Best Things to do While Visiting Las Vegas

There are some folks out there who believe that the only thing to do in Las Vegas is gamble, with the odds of coming back penniless being pretty high. The reality is that Vegas is, in fact, the entertainment capital of the world, and there are plenty of other things to do there besides losing your shirt. Anyone who has ever been to Sin City will tell you that it is indeed possible to spend a ton of time there without ever playing a slot machine, throwing a dice, or flipping a playing card, but they will also tell you that it’s almost impossible to avoid doing one of those things at least once.

Playing responsibly is part of the fun of spending time in Las Vegas, but there is a whole world of fun and entertainment waiting for you outside the casinos. Many of the things that you can see and do in Las Vegas are actually free, and you may even find yourself lucky to land in a cab that has a driver who will present you with a nice little list of freebies. The hotels put on big shows outside, all of which are free to watch. From the dancing waters of the Bellagio to the exploding volcano at the Monte Carlo, there is an event happening along the strip every few minutes.
If it’s thrills you are after, Vegas has them for you. We suggest starting off small by riding the roller coaster at New York New York. If that isn’t enough to get your juices flowing, head to the opposite end of the strip, where you will find the Stratosphere and a number of thrill rides that sit atop the massive tower. These rides are not for the faint of heart, though, so you have been warned. You can head downtown and take a zip line over Fremont Street, or you can hop in a helicopter and get a panoramic view of the city below.
Once you have had a meal and a few drinks to settle your nerves after those thrill rides, why not keep the evening going by taking in a show. There is a little something for everyone in Vegas, from world-class singers and magicians to offbeat shows like the Blue Man Group and Cirque de Soleil. There are ticket vendors all along the strip selling cut-rate tickets for shows taking place that night, although you may want to book ahead for some of the bigger names.
If you need some time away from the bright lights and buzz of the strip, you can take a little trip just outside of town to the shopping outlets. It’s a great place to pick up a bunch of fairly priced gifts for those friends and family members who expect a souvenir every time you head out of town. We could go on and on forever talking about all the fun things that you can do in Las Vegas, all of which will allow you to return home with money in your pocket. By all means, take a spin on the slots, though, as you just never know when that jackpot might have your name on it.
